About Me
Welcome!
This blog is my invitation to you to engage in spiritual reflection and dialogue.
You certainly needn’t agree with me on points of biblical interpretation or theology; in fact, my desire is to encourage lots of creative thought and stimulating conversations. We all grow spiritually as we reflect on the matters I imagine we’ll discuss here.
Think about what you believe and why. Think about how God reveals truth and wisdom to you. Think about how your belief system influences your thoughts and behaviors. Look at the intersections of what we traditionally call sacred and secular and find the sacred everywhere in life. I invite you to live abundantly!
I’m Reverend Colleen Darraugh and I’m an ordained clergy person with the Metropolitan Community Churches, where I’ve served since1983. Currently, I’m Lead Pastor with Metropolitan Community Church of Greater Dallas (www.mccgd.org). I relish the opportunity to teach people to be the church, rather than to have a church or simply go to church. The church is the people, not the building, and we are all called to be the church in the world.
I earned my Master of Divinity degree from Emmanuel College, part of the Toronto School of Theology, University of Toronto, and my Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Toronto. My earlier career included being a professional trombonist and music teacher!
My formative theological experiences include ecumenical involvement with the Canadian Council of Churches, the Ecumenical Forum of Canada, the World Council of Churches, and the National Council of Churches, USA. I was raised in the Salvation Army and my spiritual expressions incorporate evangelical, traditional, liturgical, contemporary, praise and worship, and emerging traditions. I worship God in many ways, including praying and listening to God’s voice while I work in my garden.
I hope and pray that the writings in this blog bless you and stimulate all of your spiritual reflections and conversations.
Blessings on the journey,
Colleen
